Daniel Herbst

Dan Herbst is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Arizona and a Research Fellow with the Jain Family Institute’s Income Share Agreement initiative. His research lies in the intersection of labor economics, higher education, and consumer finance, with an emphasis on questions related to student loans. Most recently, his work explores the effects of federal income-driven repayment programs and their implications for the optimal design of student loan contracts. Dan holds a BA from Brown University and a PhD in Economics from Princeton University, and his research has been featured in the The Economist, The New York Times, and Science.
